PROJECT STEPS

1. Based in Seattle, WA, EcoGardening Products sells products that help home gardeners develop eco-friendly gardening solutions that use both traditional soil-based methods and other methods such as aeroponics and hydroponics. To assist customers in making decisions about their gardening needs, the company has decided to create a multi-page information package that customers can download from the company's website. Jack Larsen, the company's communications officer, has started to write the proposal in a Word document, and three other consultants have created a section to insert into the document. Jack has asked you to work with his document as the master document to complete the proposal. Insert subdocuments as follows to include the sections from the three consultants:

a. Turn formatting marks on.

b. Switch to Outline view, and then show the contents of the master document.

c. On page 4 (the blank page before the "Index" heading), insert the files listed below as subdocuments in the following order, answering Yes to All when prompted: · Support_WD365_10B_Introduction.docx · Support_WD365_10B_Company.docx · Support_WD365_10B_Benefits.docx

d. Unlink each of the three subdocuments so that they become part of the master document, and then close Outline view.

e. Important: Leave formatting marks turned on for the remaining steps in this Project.

2. On page 4, change the style of the "Introduction" heading as follows to match the font color of the headings in the main document:

a. Change the text color to Red, Accent 6, Darker 50% of Heading 1 text.

b. Update the Heading 1 style to match font color from the heading.

3. On page 5, update the Figure number for the "EcoGardening Executive" table, and then update the Figure number for each of the remaining figures that have captions (7 figures in total). Note that not all figures have captions yet.

4. Add captions and cross-references to the figures and tables that do not currently have them as follows, letting Word insert the figure number instead of "x":

a. Below the SmartArt diagram on page 7, add the following caption: Figure x: Water Saving Tips

b. Below the table on page 8, add the following caption (changing "Table" to "Figure" if necessary): Figure x: Hydroponics vs. Aeroponics

c. Add cross-references where indicated to two figures using only the label and number in the cross-reference, and then removing the text highlighted in yellow.

5. On page 2, below the "Contents" heading, insert a custom table of contents using the Distinctive format.

6. On page 3, below the "List of Figures" heading, insert a table of all the figures in the document using the Distinctive format to match the format used for the table of contents.

7. Delete all the section breaks on pages 4–10 to prepare for numbering pages, reapplying heading styles as needed.

8. Center the contents of the title page vertically, which is the appropriate format for a title page.

9. Insert a header to number pages as follows:

a. Insert the Plain Number 2 page number at the top of each page.

b. Select a different first page for Section 1 to remove the header from the title page.

c. In the Section 3 header, remove the link to the previous section.

d. Format the page numbers of Section 2 (the Contents and the List of Figures pages) as lowercase Roman numerals, with page i starting on the "Contents" page.

e. Format the page numbers of Section 3 with Arabic numerals, starting with page 1 on the "Introduction" page.

f. Close the Header & Footer ribbon.

10. Mark index entries as follows to make it easy for readers to find information:

a. In the first paragraph in the "Introduction" section on page 1 of the body text, mark entries for every occurrence of the words "hydroponic".

b. Find the first occurrence of the text "e-commerce" in the body text and then mark it as a single index entry.

c. Go to the top of the document, find the text "Fresh produce" and then mark first occurrence as an index entry so that the main entry is "What to Grow" and the subentry is "Fresh produce".

11. Below the "Index" heading on the last page of the document, compile the index using the Formal format.

12. Find the text "Following is an overview…" and then mark "benefits" as an index entry using the bookmark "Benefits" as the page range.

13. Hide the paragraph marks and formatting symbols, and then update all the fields in the document, including the table of contents on the "Contents" page, the table of figures on the "List of Figures" page, and the index on the "Index" page.

14. Restrict editing to allow no changes to the document.

15. Mark the document as final.

Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. Save your changes, close the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the website to submit your completed project.
