PROJECT STEPS
1. As a workshop coordinator for the Reynolds Business Development Center in San Francisco, California, you collect information from local small business owners who want to register for business development workshops. To simplify the process, you are creating an information form that attendees can complete and return to you. You will use advanced table formatting techniques and insert content controls to complete the form. Split the five cells in the first row of the table into one column and two rows, merging the cells before you split them. Move the text "Please complete the following form" into the cell in the new second row, and then change the font size of the same text to 12 point to separate the form title from the instruction. Remove the border between the first and second rows to improve their appearance.
2. Merge the cell containing the text "Contact Details" with the three blank cells below it. Rotate the text so that it reads from bottom to top.
3. With no cells selected, drag the gridline between the first two columns until the Move Table Column marker is on the 0.5" mark on the horizontal ruler to resize the column width without affecting the width of the table.
4. Select only the cells containing "Name:", "Company:", "Phone:" and "Email:" and move the right column divider until it is on the 2" mark on the horizontal ruler.
5. Change the top and bottom cell margins for all the cells in the table to 0.02" to add more space for the contents.
6. Change the properties of the Contact Name content control in the cell to the right of "Name:" to use the Strong style for text typed into the control.
7. Add a 1½ point border to the bottom of row 6 (which includes the cell with the "Email:" text). Use the default border color.
8. Insert a Date Picker content control in the blank cell to below "Workshop Date:" so that users can select a date from a calendar. Use the M/d/yy date format. In Design mode, use Select a date. as the placeholder text.
9. Insert a Plain Text content control in the blank cell below "Workshop Name:". Use Workshop Name as the title of the control. In Design mode, use Enter workshop name. as the placeholder text.
10. Split the cell containing the text "Retail" and a check box into two columns and one row, then resize the new cells to line up with the cells in the rows below as needed. Type Real Estate followed by a space and a Check Box content control in the new blank cell. Lock the new Check Box content control so that it cannot be deleted.
11. Insert a Drop-Down List content control in the blank cell below "Preferred Location:". Use Preferred Location as the title of the control. Add the following three choices to the drop-down list: Downtown Office Oakland Office Berkeley Office
12. Shade the cells containing the text "Contact Details" and "Workshop Details" using Red, Accent 1, Lighter 80%.
13. Restrict editing in the document to filling in forms without using a password so others can complete the form without changing the other content.
Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. Save your changes, close the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the website to submit your completed project.
