GETTING STARTED
1. Save the file NP_WD365_9B_FirstLastName_1.docx as NP_WD365_9B_FirstLastName_2.docx
a. Edit the file name by changing “1” to “2”.
b. If you do not see the .docx file extension, do not type it. The file extension will be added for you automatically.
2. With the file NP_WD365_9B_FirstLastName_2.docx open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the footer.
a. If the footer does not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy.
PROJECT STEPS
1. As the marketing coordinator at JKS Rail Journeys, a travel company based in San Francisco, CA, that books luxury rail packages in destinations around the world, you want to gather data from guests about their experience. To gather the data, you've created a feedback form that guests can complete and return to the company after their trip. You will use advanced table formatting techniques and insert content controls to complete the form. In the Guest Feedback Form table, merge the cells in the first row, which contains the text "Guest Information".
2. Remove the borders from the right side of the cells containing "Name:" and "Journey:".
3. Insert a Rich Text content control in the blank cell to the right of "Name:" and format it as follows:
a. Use Guest name as the title of the control.
b. Apply the Emphasis style.
c. Do not allow the control to be deleted.
d. In Design mode, use Enter your first and last name. as the placeholder text.
4. Insert a Plain Text content control in the blank cell to the right of "Email Address:" and format it as follows:
a. Use Email as the title of the control.
b. In Design mode, use Enter your email address. as the placeholder text.
5. Insert a Drop-Down List content control in the blank cell to the right of "Journey:" and format it as follows:
a. Use Journey as the title of the control.
b. Replace the default choice with the following three choices in the list: Canadian Rockies Australian Outback Europe by Rail
c. Move "Australian Outback" above "Canadian Rockies" so the list is in alphabetical order.
d. In Design mode, use Click the arrow to select an option. as the placeholder text.
6. Change the height of the row containing the text "Feedback About Your Journey" to 0.4" to match the height of the row containing the text "Guest Information".
7. Insert a Combo Box content control in the blank cell to the right of "Journey Class:" and format it as follows:
a. Use Class as the title of the control.
b. Replace the default choice with the following two choices in the list: Silver Class Gold Class
c. In Design mode, use Click the arrow to select an option or type the class type if it is not listed. as the placeholder text.
8. Insert a Date Picker content control in the blank cell to the right of "Journey Date:" and format the content control as follows:
a. Use MMMM d, yyyy as the date format.
b. In Design mode, use Click the arrow to select a date. as the placeholder text.
9. Format in the cells containing "1", "2", "3", and "4" as follows:
a. Select the cells containing "1", "2", "3", and "4" and split them into four columns and two rows.
b. Insert a Check Box content control in the new blank cell below "1" and three more Check Box content controls below "2", "3", and "4".
10. Add a 3 point border to the bottom of the table row containing the "Comments" content control. Use the color Blue, Accent 5.
11. Format the For Office Use Only table as follows to clarify that the table is not to be completed by guests:
a. Merge the cell containing the text "For Office Use Only" with the blank cell below it.
b. Change the text direction of the text in the cells containing the text "Days", "Rate", and "Total" so that it reads from bottom to top.
c. Shade the three cells below "Days", "Rate", and "Total" with the Blue, Accent 5, Lighter 80% shading color.
12. Insert a formula to calculate the total journey cost as follows:
a. In cell D2 (the blank cell below "Total") insert a formula that multiplies the days in cell B2 by the rate in cell C2. (Hint: Edit the formula so it does not use a function but does start with an equal sign.)
b. Select the Number format that shows currency values with two decimal places. Turn off Design Mode so the entire form fits on one page.
Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. Save your changes, close the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the website to submit your completed project.
