PROJECT STEPS

1. TopStream, Inc. is an online streaming platform for TV shows, movies, podcasts, music, and videos. As the new projects coordinator, you are in charge of introducing TopStream's services in the Pacific Northwest. You are using an Access database to track and store company data for that region, and are developing forms for entering, updating, and reviewing data. Create a new form in Design View to list the media contributors in your region. Use the Contributors table as the basis for the form. Add the ContributorID, FirstName, LastName, MediaID, and MemberID fields (in that order) to the form. Align the left edges of the text boxes at the 2" mark on the horizontal ruler and the bottom edge of the ContributorID control at the 1" mark on the vertical ruler. Separate the controls by a single dotted line on the form design grid. Resize the controls so that the right edges of the text boxes are at the 3.5" mark on the horizontal ruler. Save the form using ContributorList as the name, confirm that it matches Figure 1, and then close the form.

2. Open the SubscriptionsAndMembers form in Design View to provide a way to enter accurate subscription descriptions. Add a combo box to the Detail section between the SubID and RegistrationFee controls. Get the values for the combo box from the Subscriptions table. Add the SubID and SubDescription fields to the combo box. Sort the records in ascending order by the SubDescription field and hide the key column. Store the value in the SubDescription field and use Description as the name of the combo box. Align the left edge of the SubDescription combo box at the 2" mark on the horizontal ruler. Resize the combo box so it is 2" wide. Left-align the Description label with the Sub ID label. Separate the SubDescription control from the SubID and RegistrationFee controls by a single dotted line on the form design grid. Confirm that your form matches Figure 2, and then save and close it.

3. Open the MemberEntry form in Design View to provide a way to find member records. Add a combo box to the Form Header section at the 5" mark on the horizontal ruler. Use the Combo Box Wizard to find a record in the form. Add the MemberID and Last Name fields from the Members table to the combo box. Hide the key column and use Find Member as the label text for the combo box. Resize the combo box so it is 2" wide. Save the form, switch to Form view, and then use the new combo box to find the record for Carmen Sanchez. Confirm that the form matches Figure 3, and then close the form.

4. Open the MediaAndProducers form in Design View to provide a quick way to print a record. Add a Button control to the right of the MediaID control in the Detail section at the 5" mark on the horizontal ruler. Assign the Print Record action in the Record Operations category to the command button. Display the Print Record as the text on the button and use PrintRecord as its meaningful name. Align the top edge of the new command button with the top edge of the MediaID control. Save the changes and close the form.

5. Open the MediaAndMembers form in Design View to provide different ways of viewing media and member data. Add a tab control to the form and use Datasheet as the name of the first tab and Chart as the name of the second tab. Position the tab control so that the top-left edge of the control is at the 1" mark on both the horizontal and vertical rulers. The bottom-right edge of the control is at the 6" mark on the horizontal ruler and the 4" mark on the vertical ruler. Save the form but do not close it.

6. With the MediaAndMembers form still open in Design View, add a subform to the Datasheet tab. Use the Members table to select the fields for the subform and include the MemberID, FirstName, LastName, and State fields. Use the default field linking and the default name, Members subform, as the name of the subform. Save the changes to the form and confirm that it matches Figure 4.

7. With the MediaAndMembers form still open in Design View, add a chart to the Chart tab. Use the MembersByState query to select the fields for the chart and include the MemberID, State, and MediaID fields in the chart. Select Pie Chart as the chart type. Display the MediaID field in the Data area and display the State field in the Series area of the chart. The MediaID field links the document to the chart. Use Media by State as the title of the chart and display a legend. Save the changes to the form, and then switch to Form View. Display the subform on the Datasheet tab and then display the chart on the Chart tab. Return to Design View, confirm that the form matches Figure 5, and then close the form.

8. Open the ProducerEntry form in Design View to enhance the appearance of the form. Insert the Support_AC365_EOM7-1_TopStream.png image to the right side of the Form Header section at the 5" mark on the horizontal ruler. Position the image so its bottom edge is at the 1" mark on the vertical ruler. Reduce the height of the Form Header section as necessary to remove any blank space at the bottom of the section. Copy the formatting of the Producer ID label to the other labels in the Detail section. Confirm that the ProducerEntry form matches Figure 6, and then save and close it.

9. Open the SubscriptionEntry form in Design View to make its chart easier to interpret. Change the chart type of the Subscriptions by State chart to a Pie Chart. Move the legend to the right side of the chart, and then format the data series to display percentages as the data labels. Save the changes to the form, and then close it.

Save and close any open objects in your database. Compact and repair your database, close it, and then exit Access. Follow the directions on the website to submit your completed project.
