GETTING STARTED

1. Save the file SC_WD365_3B_FirstLastName_1.docx as SC_WD365_3B_FirstLastName_2.docx

a. Edit the file name by changing “1” to “2”.

b. If you do not see the .docx file extension, do not type it. The file extension will be added for you automatically.

2. To complete this Project, you will also need the following files:

Support_WD365_3B_Heading.docx

3. With the file SC_WD365_3B_FirstLastName_2.docx open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the footer.

a. If the footer does not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy.

PROJECT STEPS

1. As an administrator for Marshall Realty, a real estate company in Baltimore, Maryland, you are creating a guide to distribute to new clients interested in purchasing a condo. Your manager, Sam Tanaka, has directed you to make some revisions, including adding and enhancing more graphics. Insert the missing heading picture for the first page as follows:

a. Copy the letterhead picture from the document Support_WD365_3B_Heading.docx.

b. Paste the picture in the first blank paragraph at the top of the document while keeping source formatting to preserve the original design of the letterhead.

2. Following the text "Updated:" in the blank paragraph below the letterhead picture, insert a space and then insert the current date using the October 5, 2029 format.

3. Format the picture of the checkmark near the bottom of the first page to correct its placement:

a. Flip the picture horizontally so that the checkmark faces in the opposite direction.

b. Change the position of the picture to Position in Bottom Right with Square Text Wrapping."

4. Apply the Title style to the heading paragraph "First Time Buyer's Guide to Buying a Condo".

5. Use the Format Painter to copy the formatting from the heading "It's a Win-Win!" to the heading "What is a Condo?" below the picture to draw attention to it.

6. Change the font size of the paragraph "Condo Associations" to 18 point to match the font size of other main topic headings.

7. Clear the formatting from the paragraph that begins "Condo is the shortened form…" under the "What is a Condo?" heading to remove the distracting formats.

8. Format the picture of the building on page 1 as follows to improve the clarity of the picture and add alt text for screen readers:

a. Apply the Brightness: +20% Contrast: +20% correction.

b. Resize the picture so that it is 80% of its original size.

c. Add a picture border using Blue-Gray, Text 2 (4th column, 1st row in the Theme Colors palette).

9. On page 2, add SmartArt as follows in the blank paragraph following "This graphic summarizes the four pillars of condo buying:" (below the "Condo Buying Factors" heading) to describe the four pillars of condo buying:

a. Insert the Basic Block List SmartArt from the List section of the SmartArt gallery.

b. Delete the first shape on the upper-left to leave four shapes.

c. Type Lifestyle in the upper-left shape.

d. Type Amenities in the upper-right shape.

e. Type Financing in the lower-left shape.

f. Type Location in the lower-right shape.

10. Format the SmartArt as follows to make it more attractive:

a. Change the colors to Colorful Range – Accent Colors 5 to 6.

b. Change the SmartArt style to Cartoon.

11. Set a tab stop at 5.25" with the Right alignment and Leader option 3 (the dashed leader) for all four lines of the tabbed list following "Once you decide that you want…" (below the "Why Choose Marshall Realty?" heading) beginning "Years in Real Estate" and ending "Industry Leaders" to more attractively highlight the information.

12. Complete the condo vs. house comparison table by adding more information as follows:

a. Insert a row at the end of the table.

b. In the new row, add 25% down payment in the first cell and add 20% down payment in the second cell.

13. In the blank paragraph following "If you're thinking of buying a condo…" (below the "Pros and Cons of Buying a Condo" heading), insert a table summarizing the pros and cons of condo ownership:

a. Insert a table with two columns and four rows.

b. Add text to the table as shown in Table 1.

c. Apply the Grid Table 4 – Accent 1 table style to the table.

d. Change the width of the second column to 2" to match the widths of the other tables.

14. Format the picture of the three people in the "Are Condos Good for First-Time Buyers?" section as follows:

a. Change the text wrapping of the picture to Tight.

b. Recolor the picture to use Grayscale.

15. Add a border below the paragraph under the "Rules and Restrictions" heading (ends "…for fines or even foreclosure") as follows to separate the page from the rest of the document:

a. Apply a Bottom Border to the paragraph.

b. Change the line style of the border to double solid line. (Hint: The double solid line style is the seventh option in the Style list.)

c. Change the color of the border to Blue-Gray, Text 2 (4th column, 1st row in the Theme Colors palette).

d. Change the width of the border to ¾ point.

16. Format the "Financing" shape in the "How Marshall Realty Will Help" section as follows to apply a design that matches the "Selection" shape:

a. Change the shape style to Intense Effect – Blue, Accent 1.

b. Apply the Tight Reflection: Touching shape effect from the Reflection gallery.

17. Insert a shape as follows to complete the three ways Marshall Realty helps new condo buyers:

a. Insert a Oval to the right of the "Financing" shape.

b. Add the text Legal to the new shape.

c. Resize the shape to a height of 0.7" and a width of 1.8".

d. Position the shape using an absolute horizontal position of 4.3 to the right of the column and an absolute vertical position of 0.1 below the paragraph.

e. Use the Format Painter to apply the formatting of the "Financing" shape to the new "Legal" shape.

18. Check the Spelling & Grammar in the document to identify and correct any spelling errors.

Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. (Note: After completing Step 2, your document will show the current date.) Save your changes, close the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the website to submit your completed project.
