PROJECT STEPS
1. You handle administrative work for Westcoast Commercial Cleaning, a full-service cleaning company in Portland, Oregon, that provides cleaning services for offices and other commercial properties. You are creating a sales proposal describing the company's cleaning services for a potential investor, and need to modify and format tables to complete the document. On page 2, merge the cells in the first column of the table in the "Tier 1: Small Offices" section to make it clear the text applies to the information in all the table rows. Change the direction of the text in the first column so that it reads from top to bottom. Change the width of the merged cell to 0.5" so that it takes up less space in the table.
2. Shade the merged cell using Green, Accent 2, Darker 50% shading (6th column, 6th row in the Theme Colors palette) and then change the font color to White, Background 1 (1st column, 1st row in the Theme Colors palette). Shade the "Square Footage," "Service Schedule," and "Weekly Cost Per Square Foot" cells using Green, Accent 2, Lighter 80% shading (6th column, 2nd row in the Theme Colors palette), to match the formatting of other tables in the document.
3. To further match the formatting of the other tables in the document, increase the width of the "Weekly Cost Per Square Foot" column to 1.4", then distribute columns 2, 3, and 4 so that they are all the same width. Align-center the text in the first row of columns 2, 3, and 4.
4. Apply a 1½-point bottom border to the "Square Footage," "Service Schedule," and "Weekly Cost Per Square Foot" cells using the Green, Accent 2, Darker 50% (6th column, 6th row in the Theme Colors palette) border color to coordinate with the other tables.
5. In the "Sample Prices" table, change the cost per square foot to clean a 2000 office for 3 days per week to $0.18 to use the correct rate. Update the field in cell E4 (the 4th row in the "Total" column) to recalculate the total.
6. Insert a formula in cell E2 (the second row of the "Total" column) of the "Sample Prices" table to calculate the total cost to clean a 2000 square foot office for 1 day at a cost of $0.08 per square foot. [Hint: Use the cell addresses B2, C2, and D2 in the formula.]
7. Split cell B1 (the first row of the "Square Footage" column) of the "Tier 2: Medium Offices" table into two columns. Type Service Schedule in the new blank cell so the table matches the other tables that list cleaning services.
8. Change the top and bottom cell margins in the "Tier 2: Medium Offices" table to 0.02" to be consistent with the margins in the other tables.
9. On page 3, split the table in the "Tier 3: Large Offices & Buildings" section into two tables so that the "Buildings" row becomes the first row in the new table.
10. In the table in the "About the Cleaning Services" section, use AutoFit Contents to resize the table columns. Sort the data in the table so the numbers in the Minimum Monthly Rate column are in Ascending numerical order.
Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. Save your changes, close the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the website to submit your completed project.
