2. With the file SC_WD365_4B_FirstLastName_2.docx open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the footer.

a. If the footer does not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy.

PROJECT STEPS

1. As an operations assistant at HomeTech, a manufacturer of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems in the Boston area, you are drafting a report about three new service plans proposed for customers of the company. On page 1, delete the page break and empty paragraph to fill the white space.

2. Format the bulleted list in the "Plans" section as follows to make the list more logical:

a. Demote the five bulleted items after the "Complete Plan" item ("Free repairs…" to "$32.99/month") by one level.

b. Change the color of the round bullets to Plum, Accent 1 (5th column, 1st row in the Theme Colors palette) for the three first-level bulleted items ("Maintain Plan", "Protect Plan", and "Complete Plan").

3. On page 2, format and sort the table in the "Which Plan is Best?" section as follows to organize the table contents and to coordinate with the table in the "Air Quality Performance Test Program" section:

a. Shade row 1 (the header row) using Plum, Accent 1, Lighter 80% (5th column, 2nd row in the Theme Colors palette).

b. Change the color of all the table borders to Plum, Accent 1, Darker 50% (5th column, 6th row in the Theme Colors palette).

c. Sort the table in ascending order by the questions in the "Question" column without sorting the header row.

4. Resize the "Which Plan is Best?" table as follows to improve its appearance:

a. Distribute rows 2 to 4 in the table so they are all the same height.

b. Change the top and bottom cell margins to 0.03 for all table cells to make the contents easier to read.

c. Use AutoFit to resize the columns to fit the cell contents.

5. Split and merge cells in the "Air Quality Performance Test Program" table as follows to make the table easier to interpret:

a. Split the cell containing the text "Test 1 Test 2" into 2 columns and 1 row.

b. Change the width of column C (the "Test 1" column) to 1.7" to align the column heading and the column contents.

c. Change the width of column D (the "Test 2" column) to 1.7" to match column C.

d. Merge cells A2, A3, A4, and A5 (the cell containing "Heating System" and the three blank cells below it).

6. Format the "Air Quality Performance Test Program" table to improve its usefulness:

a. Change the direction of the "Heating System" text so that it reads from bottom to top.

b. Increase the height of rows 6–9 (the rows of Cooling System costs) to 0.3" to match the height of the Heating System rows.

c. Align the cell containing the "Cooling System" text using Align Center.

7. Sort the five paragraphs in the "Service Team" section in ascending order by paragraph to list the roles in alphabetic order.

8. Format the shaded "Get a Quote" section at the bottom of page 2 as follows to set it apart from the rest of the document:

a. Change the indentation of the two paragraphs ("Get a Quote" and "Schedule a service…") to a 0.5" Left Indent.

b. Format the heading text "Get a Quote" in Small caps.

c. Expand the character spacing of the "Get a Quote" heading text by 1.3 point to further differentiate it.

9. Insert a Confidential 1 watermark to indicate that the document contents should be kept private. [Mac Hint: Insert a Text watermark using the Confidential option. Change the Transparency to 50% and set the Orientation to Diagonal.]

10. Add a cover page as follows to create a professional opening page for the document:

a. Insert the Ion (Light) cover page.

b. Type HomeTech as the document title.

c. Type Maintenance Plans as the document subtitle.

Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. Save your changes, close the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the website to submit your completed project.
