PROJECT STEPS
1. As part of your job liaising with new customers at Suncrest Dog Ranch, you are preparing a form letter to send to dog owners who are boarding their pet for the first time at the ranch. The purpose of the letter is to inform them about discounted daycare packages. To set up the document as a form letter, start the Step-by-Step Mail Merge Wizard, accept Letters as the document type, and then choose to use the current document as the starting document. Use the file Support_WD365_EOM6-2_NewClients.mdb as the recipient list, and then edit the recipient data by deleting the record for Ms. Carlene Ramsey
2. Continue to Step 4 in the Mail Merge Wizard, and then use the Date content control with the "CLICK TO SELECT A DATE" placeholder text to select the date March 23, 2027.
3. Replace the placeholder text "INSERT INSIDE ADDRESS" with an AddressBlock merge field using the Joshua Randall Jr. format. Match the Apartment field to the Address Line 2 field so that the inside address is correct for each recipient.
4. Replace the placeholder text "INSERT GREETING LINE" with a GreetingLine merge field using the Dear Joshua Randall Jr., format.
5. In the first paragraph and second paragraphs in the body of the letter, replace the "[DOGNAME]" placeholder text with the "Dogname" merge field to include the name of the dog being boarded. In the first paragraph, replace the "[SIZE]" placeholder text with the "Size" merge field to include the dog's size category. Replace the "[DURATION]" placeholder text with the "Duration" merge field to include the time each dog will be boarding.
6. At the end of the first paragraph in the body of the letter, insert an If…Then…Else Rule that compares whether the Size field is equal to Large (make sure you capitalized Large). If it is, insert the following sentence: You can choose to have your dog taken on daily 5-mile walks. Otherwise, insert the following sentence: Your dog will have access to a brand new playground designed just for small dogs.
7. Continue to Step 5 of the Mail Merge wizard, and then filter the recipient list to select only customers with Large dogs who live in Bellingham so that you can prepare their form letters first. Sort the filtered list in ascending order by Last Name to generate the letters in alphabetic order by the recipient's last name.
8. Continue to Step 6 of the Mail Merge wizard, and then click "Edit individual letters..." to merge all records to a new document. In the new document containing the merged form letters, press CTRL+A to select all contents in the document, and then copy the selected text to the Office Clipboard. In the original form letter document, add a blank page, then paste the merged form letters in the blank paragraph at the top of page 2 so that all of your assignment appears in the same file. Delete the page break, the Next Page section break, and the extra paragraph mark at the bottom of page 3 to make the document three pages long. Turn off the preview of the mail merge results, and save the original form letter document. Close the new, merged document without saving it. Note: When opening your file or the Graded Summary report for this Project, you may be prompted to Select From "Office Address List". Select No in the dialog box to view your report.
Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. Save your changes, close the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the website to submit your completed project.
