PROJECT STEPS

1. You work for The Nature Group, a non-profit nature conservancy organization based in Vancouver, British Columbia. One of your duties is to produce the quarterly newsletter, which is emailed to members and also printed for distribution at in-person meetings. You are preparing the current issue of the newsletter and need to add a new nameplate and format other graphical elements. Convert the newsletter title "Nature News" to WordArt using the Fill: Blue-Gray, Accent color 3; Sharp Bevel style to start creating an eye-catching nameplate.

2. Change the text wrapping of the WordArt shape to Top and Bottom. Resize the WordArt to a height of 0.7" and a width of 7" so it fills the space at the top of the newsletter.

3. Change the font size of the WordArt text to 40 pt. Change the text fill color by applying the Medium Gradient – Accent 2 preset gradient fill color (2nd column, 3rd row in the Preset gradients gallery) to make the nameplate text look different from other headings in the newsletter.

4. Apply the Warp Up text effect (3rd column, 4th row in the Warp section of the Transform gallery) to draw attention to the nameplate. [Mac Hint: Apply the Can Up text effect.]

5. Insert a Continuous section break at the beginning of the first heading "Rainforest Conservation" to prepare for setting the article text into columns.

6. Format the content after the section break in two columns, which is a common newsletter format. Change the column width to 3.2" to add more white space on the space and insert a line between the columns to separate the text.

7. Crop the top of the picture of the toucan so the top edge is just above the toucan's head. Rotate the picture 10 degrees to the right, as shown in Figure 1.

Figure 1: Rotation of the Toucan Picture

8. Change the text wrapping of the toucan picture to square and the height of the picture to 2" with the aspect ratio locked, and then move the picture to an absolute horizontal position of 1.3" to the right of the Column and an absolute vertical position of 3.1" below the page so it fits to the right of the text about rainforest conservation.

9. Resize the green text box appearing under the toucan picture to a height of 1.2" and a width of 3.3", and then move it above the "Grasslands Webinar" heading in the second columns. Move the anchor of the text box to the paragraph under the "Earth Day Matching Fund" heading that begins "Donate Today to Make Double the Difference!" to attach the text box to the paragraph.

10. To call attention to an interesting point, copy the text from the file Support_WD365_EOM7-1_EarthDay.docx and then paste it into the text box. Increase the font size to 14 pt. Apply the Subtle Effect – Teal, Accent 2 shape style to format the text box.

11. In the blank paragraph at the end of the document, insert text as an object from the file Support_WD365_EOM7-1_Webinar.docx without copying and pasting the text. Use the mouse to resize the text object as shown in Figure 2 so it matches the width of the other text in the column.
